Johnston Police make arrest in accidental shooting death of high school student
The Johnston Police Department has made an arrest as part of their on-going investigation into the shooting death of Dillon Viens, a Johnston resident and student at William M. Davies, Jr. Career and Technical High School.
29-year-old Marios M. Kirios, of Johnston, is charged with four misdemeanor counts of violating RIGL 11-47-60.1 – the Safe Storage of a Firearm. Kirios, who was not at home at the time of the shooting, had legally possessed the firearms that were later seized as part of the investigation.

Viens was described as a kind and creative young man who’s “love of sneakers came second only to his love for family. Always ready for adventure and so full of life.”
The JPD is saddened by the sudden loss.
“The Johnston Police Department extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Dillion. The family has set up a GoFundMePage for additional support. Please visit https://gofund.me/1eab9c86.”
