Investigation involving area drug distribution results in Rhode Island man’s arrest, 4 minor children found at the scene

A Rhode Island man is facing several charges after a drug investigation where minor children were located.

According to Det. Sgt. Dave Medeiros, on Friday, members of the Pawtucket Police Department’s Narcotics Unit, Special Response Team (SRT), and Police K9 Unit, conducted court-ordered search warrants on Primrose Street in the city of Pawtucket.

The warrants were a result of a narcotics investigation involving the distribution of Cocaine and Fentanyl throughout the City of Pawtucket and surrounding communities.

Detectives located and seized a .357 Magnum Revolver, several boxes of ammunition, approximately $650 in cash, approximately 12 grams of Crack Cocaine and 10 grams of Fentanyl, Oxycodone pills, digital scales, cutting agents, and packaging material. Further, police found 4 minor children residing inside the residence between the ages of 2-14 years of age.

As a result of the investigation, 31-year-old Joey Fernandes of Primrose Street Pawtucket, RI, was arrested and charged with Possession with intent to deliver Schedule I/II (Fentanyl), Possession with intent to deliver Schedule I/II (Cocaine), Maintaining a common nuisance, Distribution or manufacturing controlled substance in/near school, Possession of Schedule I-V (Less than 10 grams), and Possession of Firearm while Deliver or Manufacturing Controlled Substance.
