Interim Fall River Police Chief Gauvin announces second officer termination
Interim Police Chief Paul Gauvin has announced a second officer termination.
Officer Thomas Roberts has been terminated as a member of the Fall River Police Department, effective yesterday, January 26, 2022.
Gauvin stated that his decision to terminate Roberts was based on the findings of a hearing officer designated by the City to determine whether Roberts had engaged in serious misconduct in violation of Fall River Police Department Rules and Regulations.
The hearing officer found substantial evidence that Roberts engaged in egregious violations of Police Department Rules and Regulations related to untruthfulness and conduct unbecoming, and that termination was warranted.
Earlier this month, Gauvin terminated Officer Michael Pessoa
Pessoa is facing several criminal charges regarding allegedly beating 3 people and falsifying reports. Officer Roberts admitted to filing false police reports.
