High-end coffee shop and more opening second location in Somerset

A popular high-end coffee shop is expanding and adding an additional location that may even be better than their current Taunton spot.

Keith and Debra Viveiros opened Society Coffee Bar just over a year ago on Broadway featuring craft coffee, cocktails, breakfast sandwiches, and pastry.

The menu is extensive. You can pick up a linguica roll, cookies, malasada, cupcakes or croissants to munch on, a latte, cold brew, or fresh espresso for a morning kick. In the afternoon or evening, you can kick back and relax with some wine, a margarita, whiskey, or tequila.

While Society is considered high-end, less fancy options are also available including iced tea, hot cocoa, and drip coffee.

By mid-summer, Society plans on opening in Somerset at the former St. Michael’s Federal Credit Union at 891 County Street and work has already begun.

Keith told Fall River Reporter that demolition started at the beginning of this month.

The Taunton and Somerset locations will have many similarities such as an upscale atmosphere and breakfast offerings, however, in Somerset, there will be a drive thru and a possibly expanded menu, including lunch, due to the size of the kitchen.

The building will also hold a realty business in the basement with the coffee shop operating on the first floor.
