Heat wave expected as parts of Massachusetts issued Excessive Heat Watch
It is expected to be a hot few days in much of New England.
According to the National Weather Service, near record highs are expected today, Monday & Tuesday with afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 90s each day. The heat will peak Monday with an Excessive Heat Watch issued for heat indices of 105-109.
The Excessive Heat Watch covers Eastern Massachusetts as well as the Connecticut River Valley in Hartford, Hampden, and Hampshire Counties from noon today until 8:00 p.m. Monday.

Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
While the Fall River and New Bedford area are not currently under the Watch, a heat wave is still expected as the next three days are forecast to see temperatures above 90 degrees with feel like temperatures even warmer.
Be prepared to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air- conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
