Head-on crash in Freetown leads to serious injuries for 26-year-old, 68-year-old
A head-on collision on Saturday has resulted in multiple injuries.
According to Lieutenant Benjamin A. Levesque, at approximately 5:40 p.m., the Freetown Communications Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a two-car motor vehicle crash on South Main Street, just south of the Stop & Shop Distribution Center. Freetown Police and Fire were dispatched.
Upon arrival, police and fire responders identified two vehicles that sustained heavy damage from a head-on collision. One occupant was trapped in a vehicle, prompting the deployment of the ‘jaws of life’ for extrication. Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported by Freetown Fire-Rescue to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2015 Acura TLX sedan, operated by a 26-year-old male, crossed over the center line and struck a 1972 Plymouth Roadrunner, operated by a 68-year-old male, head-on.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Freetown Patrolman Ryan Pereira, Detective Shane Kelley, and Sergeant Nicholas Drinkwine who is assigned as the department’s Accident Reconstruction Officer.
“The crash on South Main Street today is deeply concerning, and our thoughts are with the injured individuals,” stated Police Chief Scott M. Rose. “Our team is actively investigating the incident to determine its cause. Community safety remains our utmost priority, and we urge anyone with information to come forward to aid our investigation.”
South Main Street was closed to facilitate the emergency response and subsequent investigation. The scene was cleared at approximately 7:55 p.m.

Terrible story to read. I hope they both recover ASAP and the Roadrunner is salvageable.
