Concord, NH/Boston, MA – Officials announced today that the case of missing Harmony Montgomery is now a homicide investigation.

At a Thursday afternoon press conference, Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg, Attorney General John M. Formella, and U.S. Marshal Enoch Willard stated that they have multiple sources of investigative information including new biological evidence that Harmony was murdered in Manchester in early December of 2019. Her body has yet to be recovered and a suspect was not announced.

Harmony Montgomery’s father Adam was arrested on January 4 in Manchester and was indicted on one charge of felony second-degree assault arising from 2019 conduct where he reportedly struck then 5-year-old Harmony Montgomery in the face. Montgomery is also facing one misdemeanor charge of interference with custody, and two misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child pertaining to Harmony Montgomery. He is currently being held on these charges.

Kayla Montgomery, Adam’s estranged wife, was also indicted on the charge of Theft by Deception after allegedly receiving money through DHHS for Harmony when she wasn’t a member of the household. She was also arrested on perjury charges in June and is currently not in custody.

The investigation had narrowed the window of Harmony’s disappearance to approximately November 28–December 10, 2019. According to information learned by police, Adam and Kayla Montgomery, together with their two common children and Adam’s daughter Harmony, were evicted from Gilford Street in Manchester on November 27, 2019. Multiple individuals reported seeing Harmony with Adam and Kayla in the following days; however, by approximately December 6–10, 2019, Adam and Kayla apparently had only their two common children, and Harmony was no longer with them.

The information led police to believe that it was sometime during this window of approximately November 28–December 10, 2019, that Harmony Montgomery disappeared.

As previously stated by officials, Harmony previously attended school in Massachusetts.

Manchester Police continue to request that anyone with information please call or text the 24- hour tip line dedicated to Harmony’s case at 603-203-6060, in particular anyone who saw or interacted with Adam Montgomery, Kayla Montgomery, or the children during the time frame of approximately November 28–December 10, 2019.
