Full slate of free events this August at Heritage State Park in Fall River

All programs are free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the DCR Lot at 5 Water Street in Fall River. An adult must accompany children. Reasonable accommodations are available upon request. For more information call (508) 675-5759 x 0.

Weekdays August 1 – August 23
FREE LUNCH IN THE PARK, 11:45am – 12:45pm Greater Fall River RE-CREATION’S popular free drop-in summer lunch program for kids under 18. Every Friday is Free Pizza Friday! Meet outside the Visitor Center. Rain or shine. For more information, please call (508) 679-0922 or visit www.gfrrec.org.

Wednesdays
FREE FAMILY FLICKS, at sundown in the Meadow August 7, 14, Bring a blanket, chairs, bug spray, and picnic supper to enjoy 21, & 28 these free flicks under the stars. Rain or shine. If inclement weather, movies are in the Visitor Center at 7:00pm.

LUNCH MEETS LECTURE, 12:00pm–12:45pm Happy Birthday Fall River Public Library! Come celebrate the 120th birthday of the Fall River Public Library! Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park. Join Reference Librarian Taylor Silva for a birthday retrospective of the Library. Learn how it has enriched the community for over a century! Best for ages 16 and up.

Saturday, August 10
SOUTHEASTERN MA ADULT WALKING CLUB, 10:00am-11:00am Take an easy two-mile stroll along the Taunton River boardwalk from the Quequechan River to Bicentennial Park and back. Meet in the Visitor Center and head out for a leisurely walk. Everyone age 16 and up is welcome. Inclement weather cancels.

Saturday, August 17
SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK, 7:30pm, the Meadow “Some rise by sin and others by virtue fall.”
Join us for the political tragicomedy Measure for Measure. What happens when corruption reaches the highest level of court? Explore the price of principle, and witness what happens when the law is bent by those who serve to uphold it. Join them for Shakespeare’s timeless tale of deception, virtue, and hypocrisy. www.brownboxtheatre.org. Indoors in inclement weather. Best for adults and older kids.

Wednesday, August 21
LUNCH MEETS LECTURE, 12:00pm–12:45, Theater Commemorate the Battle of Fall River! Chris MacDonald from the Lafayette Durfee House will thrill us with the story of the Battle of Fall River in 1778! Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park. Best for ages 16 and up.
