Free live music, hot cocoa, photos with santa, to highlight Fall River tree lighting

(FALL RIVER, MA- November 15, 2022)- With the City of Fall River’s 2022 holiday tree delivered to Government Center Monday after being donated by a family on Charles Street, an event will be held on December 1st to kick-off the holiday season in Fall River and to acknowledge the donors of this year’s tree, as well as the local contractors who offered their services to transport it.

On Thursday, December 1st, Mayor Paul Coogan invites the public to visit Government Center on December 1st from 4:30pm-6:30pm for the City’s Tree Lighting Celebration.

The event will feature live musical performances, crafts and activities for children, free hot cocoa and photos with Santa. Each child will receive a gift from Santa. Entertainment includes holiday music from a local DJ, a reading of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” from the Fall River Public Library, and performances from the Durfee High School Chorus, musician Emily Nawrocki, and Studio M Life dance studio. A brief ceremony and the lighting of the tree will take place around 5:45pm.

The Tree Lighting Celebration will be held rain or shine. In case of inclement weather,
the event will be moved into the atrium of Government Center.

Mayor Coogan thanked Mechanics Bank, Rhode Island Novelty and the Dunkin Mongeon Group for supporting the City’s Tree Lighting Celebration.
