Former Nephews Restaurant in Freetown opening this week as Profile Tavern
The former Nephews Restaurant has a new owner and a new name and is set to open this week.
Profile Rock, LLC, which includes Howie Mallowes, now owns the Profile Tavern, formerly “The Nephews Restaurant”. The ownership group is familiar with the restaurant industry as they also own Carmines at Candleworks, Rose Alley Alehouse, Cork Wine and Tapas, and The Vault Music Hall & Pub at Greasy Luck.
Earlier this year, Mallowes stated that Profile Tavern will have a similar concept and menu to The Nephews, but with their own spin. The pizza style will be similar and they also plan on having a prime rib night.
The restaurant’s name comes from Freetown’s famous Profile Rock which is incorporated in the restaurant’s logo and theme.
Initially, the kitchen will be open from 4pm – 9pm on Monday – Wednesday, 11:30am – 10pm Thursday – Saturday, and 11:30am – 9pm on Sunday. Ownership plans to eventually be open at 11:30am every day in the near future, and also hope to have a brunch starting at 8am on Saturdays and/or Sundays a little further down the line. The bar will remain open a little later than the kitchen hours each night.
Takeout will be available at 2 Crossroads Drive in East Freetown, however, to allow the kitchen staff time to adapt to their new surroundings, takeout will not be available until Tuesday May 31. After that point, you’ll be able to call in your takeout orders or you can order directly online through their website.
Profile Tavern will accept gift cards from The Nephews Restaurant until July 15, 2022. To ensure that you can use them beyond that date, you will have to bring your gift cards that you purchased from The Nephews in prior to July 15, 2022 and they will swap them for new Profile Tavern gift cards, which will not have an expiration date.
Profile Tavern is set to open on May 12th after undergoing some interior renovations.
In mid-October, co-owner of The Nephews, Ron Stapleton, died at the age of 65 and the restaurant has been closed ever since.
Ron’s wife, and co-owner of the restaurant, Sandy Stapleton, announced in December when mentioning gift card refunds that the property had been put up for sale.
