Former Fall River woman charged in death of 30-year-old Katherine Gascoigne
Two women have been charged after a local woman’s body was found in an area river.
On Thursday, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Providence Police responded to the area across from 297 Promenade Street where they observed what they believed to be a human body in the Woonasquatucket River.
Members of the Providence Fire Department and the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene. Police and Fire recovered the deceased from the river, 30-year-old Katherine Gascoigne of Providence. She was then transferred to the medical examiner.
Through the investigation by Providence Police Detectives, two women were charged in connection to Gascoigne’s death.
34-year-old Aja Lovett, formerly of Fall River now of Providence, was arraigned in 6th District Court Friday and charged with Murder and Conspiracy. 35-year-old Dusti Turner is being held at the ACI for an unrelated incident and will be arraigned on Monday on the same charges.
“The apprehension of the two individuals. responsible for (Thursday’s) homicide is another great example of the diligent work conducted by the men and women of the Providence Police Department, said Colonel Perez. “I commend the members of our detective bureau for their quick work on this case and ongoing commitment to public safety. I hope that these arrests can bring some semblance of peace to the victim’s family.”
