Former boyfriend of mother arraigned in murder of 5-year-old Massachusetts boy
A Massachusetts man was arraigned in court today on a charge of murder in connection with the killing of 5-year-old Jeremiah Oliver, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
32-year-old Alberto L. Sierra Jr. of Fitchburg was indicted by a Worcester County Grand Jury on the murder charge after prosecutors, investigators from the Fitchburg Police Department and the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office continued to work the case.
Sierra was also indicted on a charge of disinterring of a body.
Sierra appeared in Worcester Superior Court for his arraignment and was ordered held without bail. He will return to court on May 25.
Jeremiah, who lived with his mother in Fitchburg, was discovered missing in late 2013. His body was found on April 18, 2014 in a suitcase off of I-190 in Sterling.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Jeremiah’s death to be a homicide and listed the cause of death as “homicidal violence of undetermined etiology.”
The investigation remains ongoing and is currently being investigated by the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Fitchburg Police.
