Flooding rains, gusty winds, Gale Watch expected for Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut

Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut are expected to see flooding rains and gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service, from Sunday night to Monday, the area could see as much as 3 inches of rain. Winds could also gust to over 30 mph.

Also, Massachusetts coastal waters, Vineyard Sound, Buzzards Bay, Rhode Island coastal waters, Rhode Island Sound and Block Island Sound have a Gale Watch. Strong winds can cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Mariners should consider altering plans to avoid possible hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe wind and seas. South winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 35 kt and seas 6 to 9 feet are possible.

A slight chance of rain after 3pm. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. South wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night

Rain, mainly after 10pm. Low around 50. South wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Monday

Rain. High near 57. South wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Monday Night

Rain, mainly before 11pm. Low around 38. North wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday

A slight chance of rain before 10am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
