Fireworks and festival returning this year in Freetown, parade will not for third straight year
Another sign that life is turning back to normal as the Freetown Parade and Fireworks Committee has announced that the Fireworks Festival is returning in 2022.
After being canceled the last two years due to COVID, the celebration will be held this year on Sunday, July 3rd with a rain date of Saturday, July 9th.
Organizers are looking forward to restoring the annual tradition that goes back many years.
The festival typically includes booths with food and some games for kids in addition to a fireworks display.
Organizers stated that due to circumstances beyond their control, they will not be able to hold the annual 4th of July Parade this year. The group is looking forward to revamping their program to bring back a parade that measures up to the caliber displayed in years past.
More details will be released as the festival approaches.
