Firefighters rescue residents hanging from windows as fire destroys multi-family home in Brockton
Brockton and West Bridgewater Fire Departments responded to a 3-alarm fire Sunday morning that sent several people to the hospital.
According to Brockton Fire Chief Brian Nardelli, at approximate 12:45 a.m., firefighters responded to 25 Central Square where heavy fire was showing from the second floor of a multi-family home extending to the third floor.
Personnel used ladders to rescue 5 occupants that were hanging from the third floor. Two others were rescued using the stairs.
7 people were transported to the hospital in total. 6 are in stable condition and a teenager is in critical condition. No firefighters were injured.
Nardelli stated how proud he was of his crew for making the rescues in difficult conditions.
Residents of the home have been displaced and the fire is under investigation.
