Firefighters in Fall River extinguish residential fire that displaces pets, 3 families

The Fall River Fire Department extinguished an early morning fire at a residence on Wednesday.

According to Captain Eric Caffrey, at just before 3:00 a.m., the Fall River Fire Department was dispatched to 2039 Pleasant Street for a reported apartment fire.

Apparatus responding were Car 2, Engine’s 2, 9, 12, Ladder 2 and 4, and Heavy Rescue 1, on the first alarm.

Engine 9 was the first company on scene, no visible fire or smoke on arrival. When the crew of Engine 9, went to the rear building, they proceed to the basement and upon opening the basement door, was meet with a large amount of heavy smoke.

The fire was located in the front section of the basement.

Car 3 responded as the incident safety officer once a working fire was declared. Additional crews/companies were called to the scene, with a total of 2 Cars, 3 engines, 2 ladders, Heavy Rescue 1, and Squad 11, with Police and Emergency Medical Services.

3 families were displaced including 6 adults and 1 child. Multiple animals were also displaced.

Last units cleared at 5:08 a.m.

The fire is under investigation.
