Firefighter and civilian injured, 11 displaced, after blaze damages 5 structures in windy Fall River
The Fall River Fire Department battled heavy fire and strong winds Sunday evening.
A call came into dispatch at just before 6:00 p.m. for flames showing at Third and Lyon Streets.
Upon arrival, crews encountered a fully involved garage with exposure to 2 multi-decker buildings and another garage.
According to Fire Chief Roger St. Martin, 5 structures total were damaged in the blaze.
One firefighter was injured, and a civilian was also injured.
St. Martin stated that 11 people are displaced from a 2-family residence and 3-family structure.
The fire was under control at 6:45 p.m. and crews are expected to remain on scene for several more hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
