FBI arrest Taunton man, seize 5,500 grams of Fentanyl and Cocaine, and more than $50,000
One man is under arrest and police seized approximately 5,500 grams of Fentanyl and Cocaine, and more than $50,000 after a several-months long investigation into drug distribution within several towns, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
For the past several months, the FBI’s Metro Gang Task Force have been conducting a joint investigation into individuals distributing narcotics in and around Plymouth County. The FBI’s Task Force is comprised of the FBI, Boston Police, the Bridgewater, East Bridgewater, and Brockton Police Departments, Bristol and Suffolk County Sheriff’s Offices, the Westport Police Department, and troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit.
As a result of the investigation, detectives determined that Terrence Pyrtle, 38, of Taunton, was selling amounts of Fentanyl and crack cocaine. Investigators also identified addresses in Braintree and Somerville that Pyrtle frequented. Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office sought and obtained search warrants for both locations and this morning, those search warrants were executed in the town of Braintree and the city of Somerville.
In Somerville, investigators seized approximately two kilograms of suspected fentanyl, and various drug distribution paraphernalia.
In Braintree, investigators seized approximately 3,400 grams of suspected fentanyl, along with 88 methamphetamine pills, and one pound of marijuana. Detectives also secured $55,000 in cash at that location.
Pyrtle was subsequently located driving a motor vehicle in the area and placed under arrest without incident. At the time of his arrest, Pyrtle had approximately $5,290 in cash on his person.
The Norfolk’s District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Pyrtle was scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Quincy District Court on one count each of Trafficking a Class A Substance, Fentanyl, Trafficking a Class B Substance, Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Distribute, a Class D Substance, Marijuana.
The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office assisted with Pyrtle’s arrest in Braintree, and the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office assisted with the search warrant execution in Somerville. Assistance was also provided by the Braintree and Somerville Police Departments.
