Father and son arrested on eight drug related charges including drug dealing
The Rhode Island State Police announce that members of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (HIDTA) arrest a father and son for narcotics charges.
On December 18, 2019, as a result of a court authorized search warrant, members of the HIDTA Task Force arrested John Ferreira, age 61, of 27 Plantation Street, Warwick, Rhode Island. On December 23, 2019, Tyler Ferreira, age 24, was also arrested as a result of this search warrant. Both subjects were presented on the following charges:
1) Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance – Fentanyl
2) Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance – Cocaine
3) Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Schedule I Controlled Substance – Marijuana
4) Possession with the Intent to Deliver a Schedule IV Controlled Substance – Xanax
5) Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance – Anabolic Steroids
6) Manufacturing / Possession / Distribution of an Imitation Controlled Substance
7) Possession of a Pill Pressing Machine
8) Controlled Substance Conspiracy
During this search warrant, members of the HIDTA Task Force seized a large scale electric powered pill pressing machine, numerous blue pills containing Fentanyl, narcotics cutting agents, packaging material, over 100 Marijuana plants, Xanax pills, Equipoise Anabolic Steroids, Powdered Cocaine, and $10,000 dollars in U.S. Currency.
Tyler Ferreira and John Ferreira were both processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, and arraigned at Third Division District Court. John Ferreira was given a future court date of March 18, 2020. Tyler Ferreira was given a future court date of March 23, 2020.
Any person found guilty of Delivery/Possession with Intent to Deliver and Manufacture a Schedule (I) – (V) Controlled Substance may be imprisoned for not more than thirty years or fined not more than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) nor less than three thousand dollars.
Any person found guilty of the Possession of a Pill Pressing Machine or similar device may be imprisoned for not more than five years or fined not more than five thousand dollars, or both.
The HIDTA Task Force is managed by the Rhode Island State Police. It is comprised of members from the Rhode Island State Police, Lincoln Police, Pawtucket Police, Providence Police, North Providence Police, Middletown Police, West Warwick Police, Adult Correctional Institution-Special Investigations Unit, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Homeland Security Investigations.
