Family holds double funeral after son dies in pedestrian hit-and-run crash days after mother passes away

A local family buried two of their family members on the same day after a mother and son died within just days of each other.

According to family, 38-year-old Zacory P. Richardson of Providence was killed on the night of valentine’s day in a hit and run crash.

Richardson was hit and killed by a car on North Main Street in Providence.

According to WJAR10, 34-year-old Alisha Pina of Lincoln, Rhode Island turned herself in to police in connection with the incident after two days and was charged with failure to stop in an accident resulting in personal injury, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operating of a motor vehicle without insurance, and failure to render aid, as well as a right of way in crosswalks violation.

Richardson’s mother, Diana Nickerson, died just three days before her son which led to the family holding a double funeral this week.

Those who knew Richardson stated that he had a contagious laugh and was always helping his parents with their needs in addition to being an accomplished carpenter. He leaves behind two daughters.

The incident is still under investigation.
