Family, friends, mentors, remember Fall River teen killed by gunfire

A teenager killed in a Fall River shooting on Thursday is being remembered by those who knew him.

18-year-old Colus Jamal Mills-Good was a student at Resiliency Prep on Rock Street where he was set to graduate this year before he was gunned down not far from the school.

Fall River native and well-known New York fashion stylist Jeremy (Jae) Lavoie was a mentor to Mills-Good.

“Colus was really just a good kid with a big heart. He liked to dance and make Tik tocks etc. and be around family and friends. He was an uncle, brother, and good friend to many. Just a normal 18-year-old. He was always walking around with a smile on his face.”

Lavoie visited RPA the last 2 school years and stated Colus “was always tuned in listening and observing the messages (he) delivered to students”.

In the wake of the fatal Fall River shooting that has left him hurt and disturbed, Lavoie wants to use his platform in the fashion industry to help the city’s youth.

“I’m going to make it my obligation to have events in our city. We need more outlets for these kids that are growing up. We have kids killing kids and it’s not ok. The topic of conversation should not just be about deaths. I’m going to make it my purpose with my platform and have these events that bring kids together. Bring families together.”

Mills-Good’s mother is working on services that will be announced soon, according to Lavoie.

“She is just focused on sending her baby boy home the correct way during this time and she thanks everybody for the condolences during this hard time.”

There is no word yet from authorities on possible suspects and motive in Mills-Good’s death.
