Family announces father and son die from injuries in crash on Route 495, Massachusetts State Police investigating
A Massachusetts father and son are dead after a collision on Route 495.
According to Massachusetts State Police, shortly before noon on Friday, Massachusetts State Police Troopers responded to a two-vehicle rollover crash on Route 495 southbound in Milford that resulted in a fatality.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2022 Lexus SUV was southbound on Route 495. For reasons still under investigation, the Lexus came into contact with a 2015 Nissan Juke. The Lexus then went off the roadway and struck a tree causing the SUV to roll over.
The operator of the Lexus suffered serious injuries and was transported to a Worcester facility. A passenger of the Lexus, a 90-year-old Franklin resident, was determined to be deceased on scene by responding emergency personnel. The operator of the Nissan Juke was also transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Family members say that Louie Marano was the deceased. The Lexus driver, his son, 62-year-old Tony Marano, also of Franklin, died Saturday from his injuries.
Tony worked at Wrentham Developmental Center residential facility for those with intellectual disabilities. He also played a part in putting on Wrentham’s Cracker Barrel Fair.
Both men were remembered as special people.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend their funeral Saturday May 25th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Franklin at 10AM. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7PM.
The crash remains under investigation by Troop C of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
