Family and friends remember man killed in fiery crash in Attleboro
The name of the victim in a fatal crash on Friday in Attleboro has been released.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the accident took place near the intersection of South Avenue and West Street just before 5:30 p.m.
Attleboro Police received numerous 911 calls about a crash with entrapped occupants and a vehicle fire. The passenger, a 38-year-old man, was rescued by good Samaritans and was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
The driver remained trapped in the vehicle and was declared deceased on scene. He was later identified as Terrance Elder, 55, of Stoughton. He was driving a 1987 Buick Regal when he skidded across the roadway, slammed into a tree and flipped into an embankment. Miliote stated that the vehicle suffered catastrophic damage as a result of the crash and then caught fire.
Elder was part owner of Triple Play Car Wash in Attleboro.
Family and friends were remembering Elder and dealing with the shock of his sudden passing. Elder was well known as a good man throughout the community who was a mentor to many and a good family man.
One of Elder’s employees, Bobby Walsh, remembers his boss fondly.
“Terrance was a beyond stand-up guy. Really showed me what hard work was all about. He always looked out for his employees and loved showing off his daughters and how impressed he was with them. Best boss and mentor I’ve encountered. The world lost an incredible man that will be missed greatly.”
Excessive speed appears to be a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing.

There were skid marks on both sides of the road & for quite a distance. Either he was going extremely fast or the accelerator got stuck.
