Family and friends recall fond memories of brothers who jumped from Massachusetts bridge as crews continue search for remaining brother

Boston, MA – Crews continued to search this morning for one of two brothers who jumped from a Massachusetts bridge after one of the bodies have been recovered.

According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, at midnight Sunday, State Police were requested by Edgartown Police to assist in searching for two males who jumped into the water from the “Jaws Bridge” on Martha’s Vineyard. The males did not surface after jumping.

Officially named the American Legion Memorial Bridge, the bridge is located on Beach Road and connects Edgartown and Oak Bluffs.

One of the men was found on Monday by search crews.

On Tuesday morning, Massachusetts State Police continued to deploy several divers and a Marine Unit boat. A crew is working alongside Environmental Police officers. Environmental Police are deploying a sidescan sonar device, which uses sound waves to detect objects or anomalies in the water column or on the ocean floor. If the EPO sonar detects an anomaly our Underwater Recovery Unit members will dive on it to determine what it is. The overall area they have searched/are searching is very large, encompassing both the inlet on the land side of the bridge and the ocean on the seaward side.

Procopio stated that the two victims are brothers. The victim recovered Monday morning was 26 years old. The victim they are still searching for is 21. They were seasonal workers at a restaurant on Martha’s Vineyard and renting at an Oak Bluffs residence.

According to family and Jamaican media, the names of the two brothers are Tavaris Bulgin & Tavaughn Bulgin who are from Jamaica. The community is devastated over their loss and took to social media to express their grief.

According to those that know the brothers, they cooked for President Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett, and Simon Cowell while working at the restaurant.
