A Fall River man is continuing to try and achieve his dream of netting a UFC deal with a scheduled fight where the UFC head will be handing out contracts in its Contender Series.

Mitch Raposo, who fights out of the Regiment Training Center, is 5-0, 22 years old, and graduated from Durfee High School. Mitch started training at 12 years old and has won multiple championships in kickboxing, wrestling, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. At 18 he started fighting in MMA where he won the Cage Titans Flyweight Championship on April 14 2018. His next fight will be his biggest to date at Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 5, Week 7 on October 12th.

According to ESPN, “in 2017, the UFC launched Dana White’s Contender Series in order to find talent to add to its roster. Through its first four seasons, the promotion awarded 117 fighter contracts, including a record 37 last season.”

Season 5 began on Aug. 31 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, where five more contracts were awarded after four fights. The two episodes that followed saw five fighters getting contracts in each one. Last week, four more deals were handed out.

Fall River’s Yorgan de Castro secured his UFC contract in the Contender Series in 2019.

Raposo is no stranger to the UFC spotlight as he fought in the UFC series The Return of The Ultimate Fighter® earlier this year.

Mitch will be fighting in match 3 of 5 against undefeated Jake Hadley who takes a 7-0 record into the flyweight bout.

The win and a UFC contract would be a nice early birthday present for Raposo who will turn 23 just a few days later.

All of the fights will take place on ESPN+ starting at 8:00 p.m. ET.
