Family has issued an update concerning the victim of a pedestrian collision on Monday.

According to Deputy Chief Barden Castro, Uniform Division Officers responded to the area of 82 Hartwell Street just after 7:45 p.m. due to reports of a woman lying in the roadway.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a female pedestrian had been struck by what is being described as a work van while crossing the street near her work.

The male operator of the van remained at the scene stating that due to the rainy conditions at the time of the crash he did not see the woman in the roadway.

Castro stated that the incident is still under investigation, however it has been determined that the operator of the van is unlicensed and will at least be facing that charge.

The female was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Nisa Cote, a mother of 2 young children, reportedly has 9 broken ribs and a broken collarbone and is stable at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.

When is someone going to address the issue of speeding and simple distraction. There have been WAY too many accidents due to these things.

the guy stayed on scene and told officers due to weather he didn’t see her. If you know where this was you can understand how a downpour in yhe dark made it hard to see.

He isn’t a licensed driver. He shouldn’t have been behind the wheel in the first place

Dear Karen. If you mature properly, once you get past 4-years-old boo-boos on feelings have no role in the real world.

Guess where they photo came from? Her family. They wanted it shared. Since we live in the Dunning-Kruger Era, I’m sure you feel like you know more than her own family what is best for her.

The truth is that you Karens are all the same: you want to find a way to make a story about you and the chance to show everyone how virtuous you are. Self-promotion is a favorite tactic of narcissists.

Stop making the story about you. It’s not.

I pray for a speedy recovery. PMLA will cover her while she’s out. Hopefully she opted STD benefits thru her work (which would also payout) for emergency events as this. Why start a go fund me page already??

PMLA doesn’t pay 100%. And you don’t know if she worked OT to make ends meet or whatever. This is a huge blow for any family. They need help. Why judge them for it??

PMLA pays 80% based on wages, OT included. Not judging anyone but asked why setup Go Fund Me page so soon when the focus should be on benefit entitlements. She has a long recovery ahead and when things start getting financial difficult, that’s when a fundraising begins. They would get a better support for the cause at that point.

I was in the parking lot of the dispensary when this happened. It was pouring rain so hard. I saw a guy in the parking lot with a backpack on going from car to car of people that had their cars on. I don’t know if he was asking for money or if he was asking for help because of that accident. All I know is, that accident wasn’t there where when we pulled in. But when we were leaving we saw all the cops and ambulances. We weren’t sure what had happened. And I’m sad to know that this was the end result. I hope that this woman heals up for her and her kids.

I moved to FR 7 years ago. I live on High Street, a block from the Fire Station on Bedford St. I am shocked still at how bad the driving is here! The speeds some people hit in that 1 block going uphill from Bedford St.to the intersection with Bank Street is ridiculous. Check the police log, you’ll see that we average almost 5 accidents per year at that intersection. One was just yesterday! I walk with a cane, and I do NOT feel safe walking anywhere near the roadways of High Street, Bank Street, and Rock Street. High Street is the ambulance route to Charlton Hospital, as well as the main route to the Courthouse on Rock Street, so traffic is very heavy most of the time. WHY are you people trying to hit 60 MPH in this neighborhood??? Perhaps a few months of speed traps will help…
