Fall River woman seriously injured, Attleboro woman dead, Attleboro man cited in Sunday crash

A 59-year-old Attleboro man who caused a fatal one car crash in Norton Sunday afternoon has been cited for Motor Vehicle Homicide by Operating Under the Influence, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.

Russell Stone was also cited by police for speeding and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. The citation means Stone will be summonsed into Attleboro District Court for arraignment at a later date yet to be scheduled by the court.

Stone and a 51-year-old Fall River woman both remain hospitalized at Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. A 36-year-old Attleboro woman died as a result of the crash. The deceased was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near 55 Oak Street at around 3:55 p.m. yesterday.

The deceased cannot be publicly identified at this time as her next of kin has yet to be located and notified.

Norton Police received 911 calls around 3:51 p.m. yesterday from witnesses who reported seeing a Toyota Camry traveling northbound on Oak Street​ at a high rate of speed leave the roadway, slam into a stone wall and strike a large tree.

No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the crash.

The investigation into the fatal crash remains active and ongoing.
