Fall River woman arrested in hit-and-run that seriously injured woman in Fall River

Police have reportedly solved the case of a serious hit-and-run in Fall River.

According to Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police, on April 27, a 55-year-old woman suffered serious injuries when, while on foot, she was struck by a sport utility vehicle in the parking lot of the Fall River Heritage State Park on Water Street. The driver fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian.

Investigation by Trooper Cody Smith of the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks, with assistance from Fall River Police, led to a description of the vehicle and, ultimately, to the identity of the woman who drove it in the hit-and-run crash.

On May 27, based on evidence developed through his investigation, Trooper Smith obtained an arrest warrant charging suspect Jade L. Stanton, 26, of Fall River with leaving the scene of a crash causing serious injury and related charges.

On Monday, May 31, Trooper Smith located Stanton getting out of a car on Orange Street in Fall River. He placed her under arrest and transported her to the Dartmouth Barracks for booking.

Stanton was arraigned Wednesday in Fall River District Court.
