Fall River up to 1,680 COVID-19 cases Thursday as city deals with high positive test rate

Fall River saw additional cases of COVID-19 Thursday.

The City saw 8 cases in today’s report, according to the Mayor’s Office. This makes the total in Fall River increase to 1,680.

The Fall River Health Department is in contact with the individuals who have tested positive as well as their contacts.

The death toll from the coronavirus in Fall River remains at 111.

On Wednesday it was revealed that recently, Fall River has one of the highest COVID-19 positive test rates in Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health started reporting both confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases and deaths dating back to March 1, 2020.

Fall River saw 10 additional cases on Friday. Saturday, Fall River’s report had no new cases of COVID-19. Sunday, Fall River added 6 new cases. Monday, the City was notified of 2 more cases. Tuesday revealed 13 more cases. Wednesday, 14 additional cases were announced.

The City continues to encourage residents to practice social distancing. This means keeping a distance of 6ft between individuals. Continue to wash your hands on a regular basis, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and stay home as much as possible, especially when you are sick, and wear a face covering when out in public. These measures will help to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The City wants to remind residents that Government Center Reopened to the Public on June 8 by appointment only.
