Fall River teen leads top 10 students at Bristol County Agricultural High School

Here is the top 10 list released by the Bristol County Agricultural High School.

1. Cederholm, Sophia

The Valedictorian, of Fall River, is the daughter of Deborah and Kurt Cederholm. She is the director of Student Council and an active member of Geek Club, the Gender and Sexalities Allaince, and National Honors Society. Sophia was in the Large Animal Science program at Bristol County Agricultural High School. Sophia will be attending Washington State University in the fall and plans to major in zoology with a concentration in pre-veterinary science. She hopes to become a veterinarian in the future.

2. Higson, Sydney

The Salutatorian, of Swansea, is the daughter of Susan and Christopher Higson. She was in the floriculture program at Bristol County Agricultural High School. Sydney is a student ambassador and winner of the Presidential Award for Academic Achievement. She will be attending the University of North Texas to major in Cybersecurity.

3. DeSimone, Olivia

DeSimone, of Attleboro, is the daughter of Cathleen and Laura DeSimone. She was in the Floriculture program at Bristol County Agricultural High School. Olivia is a member of the National Honor Society, a student at the Attleboro Arts Museum, and a dancer of seven years at Tir Na Nog Irish Dance. She will be attending the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in the fall to major in Health and Society. Olivia will be in the Honors College and is an inaugural recipient of UMass Dartmouth’s Founders’ Scholarship, a full merit-based award.

4. Jamrin, Emma

Jamrin, of Raynham, is the daughter of Veronique Lambert and Azmeh Jamrin. She was in the Natural Resource Management program at Bristol County Agricultural High School. Emma was a member of the yearbook club and earned honor roll for all four years. She will be attending Bridgewater State University in the fall to major in Geography, with a concentration in Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience.

5. Sirois, Taylor

Sirois, of Seekonk, is the daughter of Amy and Michael Sirois. Taylor is ranked 5th in her graduating class and is an active member of the Bristol Aggie community. She was in the Arboriculture program at Bristol County Agricultural High School. She is the captain of the varsity volleyball and softball teams, member of BA Voice, a Student Ambassador, and President of the National Honors Society. Taylor’s time at Bristol Aggie has inspired her to continue her education in Arboriculture at Paul Smith’s College, where she will be majoring in both Arboriculture and Landscape Management and Ecological Forest Management.

6. Santos, Emily

Santos, of New Bedford, is the daughter of Amy and Corey Santos. Emily was in the Large Animal Science program at Bristol County Agricultural High School. She is the reporter for the National Honors Society, a student ambassador and 2023 Prom Queen. She has played on the varsity softball team, was the varsity basketball manager, and was a two year captain of the varsity cross country team. She also won the FFA animal science sweepstakes award for fall show and her favorite cow is Milkshake, 424. Emily is attending the University of New Hampshire this fall and will be majoring in Animal Science with a potential concentration in dairy management, in hopes of having a future career in that field.

7. Quinlan, Allison

Quinlan, of Swansea, is the daughter of Cheryl and Dave Quinlan. Allison was in the Small Animal Science program at Bristol County Agricultural High School. She is an active member of the National Honor Society and has consistently remained in the top 10 of her graduating class throughout her 4 years of high school. Allison will be attending the University of New Hampshire in the fall and will be majoring in wildlife and conservation biology.

8. Mateus, Vanessa

Mateus, of Westport, is the daughter of Natividade and Roy Mateus. Vanessa was in the Small Animal Science program at Bristol County Agricultural High School. She has maintained high honors throughout freshmen, sophomore and junior year and honors her senior year. She has been an active member of the year book club since her Junior year. Vanessa plans to further her education at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to pursue a law degree.

9. McCarthy, Colleen

McCarthy, of Fairhaven, is the daughter of Kellie and Michael McCarthy. Colleen was in the Floriculture program at Bristol County Agricultural High School. She is the two year captain of the varsity softball team and the senior captain of the varsity volleyball team. Colleen is the secretary of the National Honor Society and has been a student ambassador for the past three years. She was the fall show FFA sweepstakes winner for the floriculture competition. Colleen will be attending Bridgewater State University in the fall and will be majoring in physical education, in hopes of becoming a strength and conditioning coach.

10. Goulart, Samantha

Goulart, of New Bedford, is the daughter of Kimberly and Roger Goulart. Sam was in the Large Animal Science program at Bristol County Agricultural High School. She has been a part of the cross country and basketball team for four years. In her senior year, she was a captain of the cross country team and voted court jester at the 2023 prom. Sam will be attending the University of Pittsburgh in the fall.
