Fall River students raise thousands for Ukraine refugees
Fall River students banded together to raise thousands for those escaping the war in the Ukraine.
On Thursday, April 7, Atlantis Charter School students presented Kim Smith, Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Fall River, and members of her team with a check for $6,150.88 from their #AtlantisStandsWithUkraine fundraising efforts. The money will provide direct humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees through the United Way’s on-the-ground relief efforts in Poland, Hungary, and Romania. This includes shelter, food and medicines, critical childcare supplies including infant formula and diapers, hygiene kids, and transportation.
Last month, Atlantis invited its students, staff, and families to contribute to its #AtlantisStandsWithUkraine fundraiser. They set out to raise $5,000, but easily surpassed that goal.
The United Way said Atlantis’ check is the largest donation it has received to date from the Fall River Area.
