Fall River splash pad openings scheduled for this month after repairs take place due to vandalism
With warmer temperatures arriving, several spots for residents to cool off will be opening in the coming weeks.
The splash pads at Father Travassos Park, Pulaski Park, and Chew Park are typically scheduled to open shortly after Fall River schools break for summer vacation. We contacted Nancy Smith from the Parks Department and she stated that, typically, the opening date is around July 1 which is the start of the new fiscal year. Due to repairs that need to take place from vandalism, Smith is looking to open the three splash pads on June 28th.
The Veterans Memorial Pool at 339 Eastern Ave in Fall River is scheduled to open on June 26th. Pool hours are from 11:15 a.m. to–6:45 p.m. seven days a week.
According to the Department of Conservation and Recreation, effective through Tuesday, August 24, 2021, DCR will implement a closure of the Freetown State Forest Wading Pool in the Freetown State Forest in the Town of Freetown to accommodate reconstruction work.
The wading pool will reopen following the completion of reconstruction work and the closure will be clearly marked with signage.
