Fall River sees two more fatalities as COVID-19 report is released

Fall River has seen more confirmed positive cases of COVID-19.

15 additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Fall River, according to Mayor Coogan. This brings the total in Fall River to 1,196.

“15 positive cases of Covid increased our count to 1196 in Fall River. Cases that have cleared-on May 1 we had 604 confirmed cases of Covid so I think it is safe to assume mostly all of those cases have cleared.”

Mayor Coogan, along with many others, are interested in the amount of cleared cases in Fall River.

“I wish the state showed the cleared cases.”

The death toll from the coronavirus in Fall River also increased to 28 with two more fatalities.

The Fall River Health Department is in contact with the individuals who have tested positive as well as their contacts.

Wednesday brought 11 more cases and Thursday revealed 25 cases. 29 additional cases were announced on Friday. Saturday’s report lowered the daily reported case count to 16. On Sunday, 38 more cases were revealed. On Monday, 20 additional cases were reported.

Governor Charlie Baker announced the extension of the state’s non-essential business closures and stay-at-home advisory. Government Center will be closed to the public until this advisory is lifted.

Governor Baker announced what will be reopening on May 25 as part of the tiered COVID-19 plan.

Governor Charlie Baker signed an executive order on May 1, 2020 requiring face coverings in public places where social distancing is not possible. This order is effective May 6, 2020 and will remain in effect until rescinded or until the emergency is terminated.

The Mayor continues to encourage residents to practice social distancing. This means keeping a distance of 6ft between individuals. Coogan states that he also wants Fall Riverites to continue to wash your hands on a regular basis, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and stay home as much as possible, especially when you are sick, and wear a face covering when out in public.

The City of Fall River wants to remind residents that the Online Payments Center gives residents a way to pay bills online 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. Real Estate, Personal Property, Motor Vehicle Excise, Boat Excise Taxes and Public Utility payments are accepted. There is also a drop-off box on the Third Street Entrance of Government Center where residents can drop their payments in sealed envelopes.
