Fall River sees double digit COVID-19 cases in Wednesday report

Fall River saw additional cases of COVID-19 in Wednesday’s report.

The City saw 15 new cases in today’s report, according to the Mayor’s Office. This makes the total in Fall River increase to 1,758.

The Fall River Health Department is in contact with the individuals who have tested positive as well as their contacts.

The death toll from the coronavirus in Fall River remains at 117.

Mayor Coogan credits the uptick in cases due to more testing.

On July 8th, Governor Baker announced free testing sites for Fall River and also nearby New Bedford.

Thursday, 6 cases of COVID-19 were added. It was reported on Friday that 11 more cases hit Fall River. Saturday revealed 7 more cases. Sunday saw 4 more. On Monday, 1 new case was added, however, 1 case was also removed. Tuesday, 7 new cases were reported.

The City continues to encourage residents to practice social distancing. This means keeping a distance of 6ft between individuals. Continue to wash your hands on a regular basis, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and stay home as much as possible, especially when you are sick, and wear a face covering when out in public. These measures will help to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The City wants to remind residents that Government Center Reopened to the Public on June 8 by appointment only.
