Fall River sees 26 additional cases of COVID-19, deaths remain at 8

Fall River has seen more confirmed positive cases of COVID-19.

26 additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Fall River, according to the Mayor’s Office. This brings the total in Fall River to 655.

The Fall River Health Department is in contact with the individuals who have tested positive as well as their contacts.

As of Monday, 212 cases have cleared isolation.

Thursday the mayor announced 25 more COVID-19 cases. On Friday 24 more cases were identified along with the city’s sixth and seventh deaths due to the virus. Saturday’s COVID-19 update showed 21 new cases of the virus. Sunday revealed 32 additional cases. On Monday, 15 additional cases were announced along with the city’s 8th death from the virus. 28 more cases were reported on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 7:00pm, Fall River residents are encouraged to come together to clap, cheer and show appreciation for essential employees during the COVID-19 outbreak. Clapping and cheering can be done from windows, porches, front yards or sidewalks. Residents must practice social distancing of 6 feet or more and may not gather in groups of 10 or larger. Fall River Government Center will be lit up in blue to support our essential workers. Places of worship are asked to join this recognition by ringing their bells on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 7:00pm. Residents are encouraged to share their efforts on social media utilizing #ClapBecauseWeCare

Governor Charlie Baker announced last week the extension of the state’s non-essential business closures and stay at-home advisory until May 18, 2020. Government Center will be closed to the public until this advisory is lifted.

The Mayor continues to encourage residents to practice social distancing. This means keeping a distance of 6 feet between individuals. Continue to wash your hands on a regular basis, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and stay home as much as possible, especially when you are sick. These measures will help to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The City of Fall River wants to remind residents that the Online Payments Center gives residents a way to pay bills online 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. Real Estate, Personal Property, Motor Vehicle Excise, Boat Excise Taxes and Public Utility payments are accepted. There is also a drop-off box on the Third Street Entrance of Government Center where residents can drop their payments in sealed envelopes.
