Fall River responders make rescue as boat overturns in the Taunton River
Fall River responders made a rescue in the Taunton River Saturday night after a boat overturned.
According to scanner transmissions, a call came in at approximately 9:45 p.m. for a water rescue near the old Brightman Street Bridge on the Fall River side.
According to the Fall River Fire Department Union, there was about a 12-foot skiff with two men fishing when the boat overturned.
One of the men was able to swim to shore and Fall River Police located him on shore on the Fall River side of Route 79 a few minutes after 10:00 p.m.
IAFF L-1314 Fall River Firefighters stated that the second man was hanging on the overturned vessel. Marine 1, which is manned by Heavy Rescue 1, was able to get the boat to him and pull him aboard minutes later.
Once at shore, the second man was evaluated by EMS but declined to be transported.
