Several Fall River residents have put the word out that there are men coming door to door posing as National Grid and trying to get into homes.

Here is one resident’s take on the situation:

“ATTN: Someone dressed as National Grid knocked on my friends door around the Almacs Diner area. She saw they had the uniform and opened it just a little and he said he was there to change the lightbulbs to LED. He then asked her to get her electric bill. She immediately knew this was a scam and went to close the door and he insisted on coming inside and tried to push his way through so she slammed the door and he ran away. She’s okay, but shaken up. The cops are coming to get a statement but, BOLO and if someone knocks on the door claiming to be National Grid, do not answer!”

Another resident posted the following:

“Warning. People are going around trying to gain access to homes saying they are from National Grid. My neighbor asked this guy to leave and he kept pushing back as well as trying to get personal information (thankfully my neighbor is too smart to fall for this crap). He didn’t leave until I spoke up and asked him to from the window as well as making him aware we all look out for each other in this house and to pass the message on to his associates that no soliciting is allowed at this house….but please do not let anyone in your house. Picture of the gentleman that came to our house today included.”

According to the company, “National Grid does not conduct sales door-to-door, and will never ask for customer account numbers at the home. In addition, third-party supplier representatives must display proper photo ID with their own company logo visible.”

They told me they were from the company that makes the light bulb and needed to verify my bill so they can send me the light bulbs
