Thomas C. Brandy, a native of Fall River and former resident of Tiverton and Barrington, RI, will discuss his first historical fiction novel, Robert’s Wing.
The story takes place in Fall River/Tiverton/Dartmouth/Sakonnet and surrounding waters during the start of America’s involvement in World War II. It blends some of the history of the beginnings of the Civil Air Patrol with a fictional aero club that assists the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy in providing sea rescues, submarine location and other early war, unmet military needs. In so doing, Robert’s Wing also informs readers of how civilians coped with life at home by highlighting our Yankee grit that was so essential in the victorious outcome of the Battle for the Atlantic and foiling the sinister invasion plans of the Axis powers.

Anyone interested in World War II, aviation, local history, and maritime/military history will enjoy learning more about Robert’s Wing. Join us for this free author talk, sponsored by The Friends of the Fall River Public Library. There will be time for questions and answers, and copies of Robert’s Wing will be available for purchase and signing following the event.

The presentation will take place on Tuesday June 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
