The Fall River Public Library located on 104 N. Main Street will be observing Arbor Day with a storytime and craft for families on Friday, April 27 at 10:30 a.m. The event will take place in the Meeting Room and is recommended for children ages 3 and up.

The storytime will feature the interactive picture book Tap the Magic Tree by Christie Matheson. In this enchanting story, children become active participants to the ever-changing tree that appears throughout the book with surprising results. Following the story, children will create their own decorative trees using colorful craft “Nuudles.” Refreshments will be served.

The library will also have on display its recent donation of books celebrating trees from the Fall River Street Tree Planting Committee. The books are part of the ever-growing collection of material for children and adults made possible by the organization, educating the public on the contribution trees make to our communities.

Outside my kids” daycare are some Japanese cherry trees that were apparently donated by the Japanese government as a gift (our daycare is in the federal building in a large city). When they bloom, they are absolutely stunning. Starting when our oldest was an infant, we took pictures of our kids under these trees each spring, trying to get them on the “puffiest day. After 7 years of daycare, I took the last photo of the kids under the trees a few weeks ago. We”re off to public school, but we might go back in March to try to get that perfect shot. Or find a new tree. It feels like our way of celebrating spring, and a marker that winter is over: We need to get the puffy tree picture for this year, Mom! Spring is here! I also am privileged to celebrate Passover with my very best friend and her family, even though no one in my family can claim any sort of Jewishness whatsoever. My favorite part is going around and saying what we are thankful for in the past year. Now the kids are joining in, and we love hearing things like, “That Santa always knows what I want, at Passover.
