Fall River Price Rite tops the state in donations as CT, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI locations raise $35,000 to fight hunger

Fall River has a reputation of having many residents who are struggling financially. Despite that fact, residents are also known to give you the shirt off their back if needed. This was made even clearer after Monday’s announcement that Fall River’s Price Rite location raised the most money in the state for The Greater Boston Food Bank.

Price Rite Marketplace gifted The Greater Boston Food Bank a donation of nearly $15,800 as part of the supermarket’s annual Check-Out Hunger fundraising campaign. From November through December 2022, Price Rite Marketplace stores throughout Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island collected over $35,000 at checkout to help food banks fight hunger in their communities. The supermarket brand has raised over $2 million for the Check-Out Hunger initiative since 2002.

Donations for The Greater Boston Food Bank were collected at Price Rite Marketplace stores in Chicopee, Fall River, Hyde Park, Lynn, New Bedford, Revere, Seekonk, Springfield, Southbridge Street, Stoughton, West Springfield, Westfield and Worcester, MA. Price Rite Marketplace of Fall River was the top fundraising store in Massachusetts, raising more than $5,000 this year.

In addition to the Check-Out-Hunger campaign, the supermarket has a partnership with Feed the Children and contributes approximately $500,000 to local food banks and food pantries each year.
