Fall River Police receive training in body worn cameras
Representatives from Axon were at the Fall River Police station today providing hands-on training in the use of body worn cameras to officers assigned to the Special Operations Division.
According to FRPD, training is taking place prior to the start of a pilot program, which will see camera equipped officers on patrol.
The officers selected for the program, as well as members of the Command Staff, are learning about the capabilities of the cameras and software.
In December, the Baker-Polito Administration awarded more than $4 million in state grant funds to 64 municipalities across the Commonwealth to provide departments with resources to start or expand Body-Worn Camera programs. The Fall River Police Department received $201,324.20.
Coogan stated in the State of the City last month that “we are piloting body cameras after successful negotiations with the Police Union. We are getting ready to roll out the cameras for our walking beat first.”
