The Fall River Police Department has made an arrest on gun charges after a previous shooting.

According to police, on Thursday evening, detectives assigned to our CAST Unit were proactively patrolling the areas of County Street and Albion Street in response to a shooting that occurred the previous night.

During their patrol, detectives identified a 17-year-old male known to them. Based on information previously developed, the individual was suspected to be in possession of a firearm. Given his age, he is not legally eligible to obtain a license to carry a firearm.

Detectives conducted a traffic stop and, during a subsequent pat frisk for officer safety, located a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol in the juvenile’s waistband. The individual was placed under arrest, and the firearm was seized.

The juvenile is charged with Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, and Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm.
