The Fall River Police Department is continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred Friday evening and are looking for the public’s help.
According to a statement by FRPD, on Friday May 4th at approximately 9:00 p.m., they responded to a call concerning a male shot in the leg. George Mobley, 29, was found at the scene with a gunshot wound to his upper right leg. Fall River Police and EMS rendered aid to Mobley who was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for further treatment. Two shell casings were also recovered at the scene. One casing was found in the street and the other was found on the porch of 64 Rocliffe Street.
Detective Dwaine Cabeceiras and Officer Michael Perreira continued the investigation at Rhode Island Hospital and attempted to speak with Mobley, but he was uncooperative with investigators. A search warrant was applied for and granted for the victim’s 3rd floor apartment. Upon searching the apartment, no further evidence was found. Based on the initial investigation by Fall River Police, this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
Mobley’s condition is stable and he is awaiting release from Rhode Island Hospital.
At this time, The Fall River Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying any possible suspects involved in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Dwaine Cabeceiras of the Major Crimes Division at 508-324-2796.
