Fall River Police investigating suspicious object, Massachusetts bomb squad on scene
Fall River Police are currently investigating after a suspicious item was located.
According to Captain Barden Castro, at around 6:46 p.m. Fall River Police communications personnel received a 911 call about a suspicious object in the area of Second and Middle Streets.
Police and fire personnel responded and determined that an unknown item was in fact at that location and appeared suspicious.
Due to the circumstances, assistance was requested from the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad. Police and fire personnel are still on scene, and this is still an active event.
UPDATE: According to Captain Barden Castro, after an extensive examination by the bomb squad it was determined that the suspicious package was not an explosive device. Police and fire assets are beginning to clear the scene.
An investigation will take place in an attempt to determine the origin of the package.
