Fall River Police: Father reports step-daughter was given suboxone strip by student

Fall River Police are investigating after an incident at a city school.

According to Captain Barden Castro, a stepfather came into the Fall River police station Monday evening reporting that his stepdaughter had been given what they believed to be a suboxone strip by a fellow student.

Castro stated that school officials are being notified and a School Resource Officer has been assigned to follow up on the incident.

The stepfather stated on social media that the school in question was Morton Middle School and issued an update on Facebook this morning.

“Officer just came by my house. Locker /bag check this morning and luckily the child didn’t have anything in there. They asked what we wanted done and we requested no charges be filed but we do want the child to be enlightened on the severity of this and potentially what could of transpired if someone actually took what she was handing out. As I stated before the kid in question has already had a tough childhood and I don’t think adding charges to it would help anyone. Everyone deserves a chance especially children that don’t have all the knowledge we do as adults. Thank you everyone that shared the post I was also private messaged by one of the other girls that supposedly were handed the same thing. She told me she didn’t take anything or have anything whether that’s true or not it was good to know that she was ok and safe. I won’t be sending my daughter back because I know the bullying for this will be brutal. I’m gonna first attempt some private schooling and if that doesn’t work we’ll finish the remainder of the school year home schooled. I just feel awful for her because she lost her bio father this year which she didn’t know but still devastated her to find out she wouldn’t be able to meet him in the future which then due to depression killed her chance at Diman. Now she just started finding some happiness and made the school softball team and absolutely slayed her first game only to be pulled from the school. I don’t know people. Life sucks at times, but keep on your children and don’t over shelter them. They need to be made aware of all potential risks.”

The strip was reportedly given to police in a bag for testing.

It is an ongoing investigation, so details are limited, said Castro.
