Fall River Police Department receives 5th re-accreditation, participates in training seminars and focus groups

The Fall River Police Department has announced that they have received their re-accreditation in addition to more training.

Earlier this month, Chief Gauvin, Captain J.T. Hoar (Accreditation Manager), and Lieutenant John Martins represented the department at the Annual CALEA Awards Conference in Bellevue, Washington. This conference marked the completion of the FRPD’s 5th re-accreditation assessment cycle, and it was mandatory for them to attend the conference for the final committee review.

Fall River Police issued a statement concerning the conference, the re-accreditation, and training that took place.

“We are delighted to announce that the review committee unanimously approved our agency. This approval is a testament to our commitment to excellence and adherence to the high standards set by CALEA. Our department has been accredited by CALEA since 2009, and we are proud to continue this tradition of excellence.

“In addition to the committee review, our team actively participated in various training seminars and focus groups. These sessions provided a valuable platform to engage with other police agencies from around the world. They participated in insightful discussions on different strategies for retention, recruitment, officer wellness, and policy management. The exchange of ideas and best practices with 147 police agencies and close to 800 attendees was truly enriching.

“Attending the Conference was an invaluable experience for our department. Our representatives gained valuable knowledge and insights that will help to further enhance our operations and better serve our community. We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this prestigious event and look forward to implementing the lessons learned.”
