Fall River Police Department receive re-accreditation
The Fall River Police Department participated in a three day re-accreditation assessment with the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission. The on-site assessment was facilitated by Retired Lieutenant Michael Hill, Framingham Police Department and assessors, Sergeant Scott Rose, Freetown Police Department, Sergeant Thomas LeGrasta, Bridgewater Police Department and Sergeant Shawn McCollem, Abington Police Department.
The department is required to meet 259 Mandatory Standards and 88 optional standards in order to achieve re-accreditation. Compliance with standards is verified by reviewing the agency’s written directives and supporting documentation, speaking with agency personnel, and observing various aspects of the agency’s facility.
After the three days, the assessors concluded and have recommended that the Fall River Police Department receive re-accreditation. The Fall River Police Department is a unique organization that holds both State (MPAC) and Federal (CALEA) Accreditation.
The Fall River Police Department thanked the assessors that conducted the assessment and also the hard work of Palmira Aguiar, The Fall River Police Department’s Accreditation Coordinator and Sergeant J.T. Hoar of the Office of Professional Standards.
