Fall River Police Department arrests 4 teens on gun charges in the Flint

A surveillance operation conducted by the Vice, Intelligence, and Gang unit lead to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of two firearms.

According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, detectives were conducting surveillance in the Flint section of the city. While doing so, their attention was drawn to two groups of males on Pleasant Street. As detectives continued to monitor their activity, they became concerned that one or more individuals were armed, and the threat of bodily harm was imminent.

Detectives exited their vehicles and made their presence known to these individuals, which
resulted in a foot pursuit.

Vice Detectives were able to take 18-year-old Jovanni Rivera into custody during the pursuit. A black and gray Glock 48 firearm was recovered in his possession.

With the assistance Uniformed Police Officers, the remaining three individuals, one adult and
two juveniles, were taken into custody a short time later.

Jovanni Rivera is charged with carrying a firearm without a license to carry, carrying a loaded
firearm without a license to carry, and possession of a large capacity firearm.

18-year-old Kyle Pimentel is also charged with carrying a firearm without a license to carry, carrying a loaded firearm without a license to carry, and possession of a large capacity firearm.

Both juveniles are charged with carrying a firearm without a license to carry, carrying a loaded
firearm without a license to carry, and possession of a large capacity firearm, and trespassing.

    These are good kids from underprivileged families doing the best they can. Criminal charges are not warranted.

    Counseling and financial assistance for the families could turn these children in crisis into success stories.
