Fall River Police arrest moped rider on list of charges after report of group of riders racing on city streets
A moped rider was taken into custody on a list of charges after a group of bikers reportedly ran from police.
According to Sergeant Moses Pereira, a 16-year-old juvenile was arrested and charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unregistered moped, not wearing a helmet, assault with a dangerous weapon (moped), and receiving a stolen motor vehicle.
The rider was arrested in the area of Wiley Street Monday afternoon.
Pereira stated that the arrest stemmed from reports that multiple bikers were racing back and forth in the area of the boardwalk. When police arrived, the vehicles failed to stop for police when their emergency lights were activated.
Residents have expressed concerns across social media involving ATVs and similar vehicles causing issues on city streets.

He’s already out. The parents should be charged and the child placed in DYS when this happens. Actually, the parent should be charged because I guarantee you there’s no father.

Why should the parents be charged? Some “kids” are just out of control. We start to lock up parents for things their kids do then the already screwed up “Justice System” will only get blurred more than ever.

Why charge the parents? If there’s no father in the household then that’d explain alot. If we begin to charge parents for what their child has done or will do then our already broken “Justice System” will only get blurred further than its ever been! Maybe investing in a trail of sorts so these kids can go out & actually have some good, old fashion fun this wouldn’t be such a problem

Parents are responsible for their mistakes. If some citizen hit this mistake with their car the parent would sue. It should go both ways, until the mistake is an adult let the parent be criminally responsible for their actions. I guarantee we would see less of these single parent mistakes screwing up.
Build a trail for stolen unregistered mopeds? When the mistake splits his head open mom will want to sue the city.
How about don’t steal mopeds?
