Fall River Police arrest city man on 10 charges after seizing guns, steroids, fentanyl, fireworks

A Fall River man has been arrested by FRPD on several drug and gun charges.

According to Captain Barden Castro, on Tuesday, the Fall River Police Department Vice Intelligence and Gang Unit, assisted by members of the Major Crimes Division and Special Operations Division-Housing Unit, served a search warrant at a residence in the 200 block of Pearce Street. Detectives were able to enter the residence without issue and detained the occupants prior to beginning the search.

During the search of the home, two loaded firearms were recovered as well as suspected illegal drugs. The seized handguns were identified as a Jimenez Arms 9mm and a Glock 9mm. Also found by detectives were vials of suspected steroids consisting of 8 vials of Testosterone Etanthate, 2 vial of Testosterone Acetate, 2 vial of Anastrozole, and 1 vial of BA water. Approximately 1,250 baggies of suspected fentanyl were also seized having a total approximate weight of 25 grams. Additionally, the search uncovered $4,587 in cash which was seized as part of the drug operation.

As part of the investigation, it was learned that the target of the search warrant, 36-year-old Jason Chaves, does not have a license to possess a firearm. Detectives also seized illegal fireworks which were uncovered during the search.

Chaves will be charged with the charges of Firearm violation with 1 prior violent/drug crime, Trafficking in 18 grams or more of heroin/morphine/opium, Possession of ammunition without an FID card, Possession of a firearm while committing a felony, Possession of a firearm without an FID card (2 counts), Improper storage of a firearm, Possession of a class E drug (2 counts), and Unlawful possession of fireworks.
